The
Road Rider
Our main goal is to promote motorcycle
Safety and Provide Group motorcycle
Rides
to club members.

We also donate money to people in need and charitable
organizations such as the Pediatric Brain Foundation, Breast Cancer Research
Center and the Adopt an Angel program throughout the year. However, our major reason for existence
is to ride. During the winter months, we generally have a ride about 2 times
a month; during the summer, 3-4 times a month. Rides are almost always on
weekends, usually on Saturdays (although an occasional Sunday ride is held).
There are also people who are interested in weekday riding weather
permitting.
Most of our rides are 1 day, anywhere from 200 - 300 miles total (although
there is an occasional longer one or shorter one). A few of times a year we
go on overnighters; so far we have gone to the Laughlin River Run,
Moab, Utah, Zion and Bryce National Parks and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We had to cancel a couple
of trips during the winter season as Mother Nature sometimes provides less
than desirable riding conditions. In the summertime, we generally ride up
north - Payson, Pine, Strawberry, Flag, etc. In the winter, we generally
ride down south (Wickenburg, Phoenix area, etc.). We try to do a half dozen
or so "moonlight rides" each year - whatever night the full moon falls on -
to ride someplace to dinner and sometimes dancing. In the winter, we go on 4
wheels (it's warmer at night); in the summer it varies.
We have all types of bikes in the club
- Harleys, Hondas, Suzukis, Gold Wings, BMW's. No crotch rockets
yet - although that's only because no-one with one joined. The
membership age ranges from around 40 to early 70's. Probably
about 2/3 are retired; the rest of us poor slobs work for a living
(thus the weekend rides). We have over 40 members, many Prescott residents
although some are from both the Phoenix and Verde Valleys. On a ride, we'll
have anywhere from 2 - 30 bikes, depending upon where we're going,
the weather, etc.
We have a monthly breakfast meeting (generally
on the first Saturday of the month) at the Golden Corral Restaurant
(Frontier Village Shopping Center) 1901 East Highway 69 in Prescott. Meeting
times for breakfast is 8:00am and the meeting starts promptly at 8:30. The
restaurant serves an all-you-can-eat breakfast for around $7.00 per person (which includes waffles, eggs, meat
and drinks)
- the food is plentiful and delicious, and there is no waiting
for service. Our club dues are $20 per year (pro-rated if you
join after January) for the rider + $10 for a member-passenger.
There is also a one-time $10 initiation fee, for which you get
an AMA patch and a Club patch. {We are an AMA Chartered Club}.
If your spouse/girlfriend/passenger also wants patches, there
is also a $10 initiation fee - if she/he doesn't, there is no
initiation fee.
